Beyoncé signed a $50 million deal with Pepsi
according to The New York Times on Dec. 9.
The contract not only includes a new
commercial but also Pepsi's investment in a
few of Beyoncé's creative projects. She is
slated to perform at the 2013 Super Bowl
halftime show on Feb. 3 which is also
sponsored by Pepsi.
“Pepsi embraces creativity and
understands that artists evolve,”
Beyoncé said in a statement. “As a
businesswoman, this allows me to
work with a lifestyle brand with no
compromise and without sacrificing
my creativity.”
Beyoncé will be featured in a new commercial
during the Super Bowl and will also appear in
limited edition cans with her picture that will
start in March. She has been featured in
Pepsi ads since 2002. Pepsi will sponsor a
number of unnamed artistic projects for
Beyoncé to help promote her fifth studio
album.
Pepsi and rival Coca-Cola are the biggest
players in advertising that are concerned
with music according to Billboard. The two
beverage companies have spent over $330
million on entertainment campaign and sports
celebrities. In the first six months of 2012,
both of the brands each spent $148 million
on domestic advertising in the first six
months of 2012 The Times mentioned.
