Adele almost hang up on Elton John when he once called her. The "Someone Like You" singer refused to talk to the "Rocket Man" hitmaker because she thought he was someone who pulled a prank on her.

''I had no idea who it was and he just started chatting away to me and I passed the phone over to a friend and I was like 'yeah, it's Elton'," she recalled. ''It still cracks me up. It made me think my god, it's another level now.''

Adele received the call from Elton before she was due to perform at 2012 Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last February. She belted out her hit single "Rolling in the Deep" and brought home a total of six trophies during the event.

The British singing sensation, who is preparing for her next album, is notoriously known for her kiss-and-tell songs. Regardless, she said she would be horrified if the situation was reversed and one of her exes wrote a song about their relationship.

"I'd f****** s*** myself. I'd be mortified," she admitted. "But also if they wrote songs about me, they'd be: 'This song's about Adele'. I've never given any names ever, but everyone's going to know this song's about me. No-one actually knows who my songs are about.''

Organizers for Glastonbury Festival failed to secure Adele as one of the headliners for its upcoming gig. Speaking to Metro, Michael Eavis revealed the "Rolling in the Deep" hitmaker was too afraid to take on the famous Pyramid Stage and face a large number of crowd.

"She knows that we want her anyway but she doesn't want to do a thing our size," the organizer dished on the reason why she turned down the headlining offer. "Going on the Pyramid Stage I think is a bit daunting in front of 80,000 people. It's a bit much, really."

Although the "Someone Like You" crooner wouldn't perform, she's expected to hit the Worthy Farm in Somerset like she always did in the past years. "She comes every year usually, and has her own little party," he opened up before adding that the Glastonbury door would always open for her.

Glastonbury takes a year off due to the Olympic Games in London. The gig will return in 2013 with tickets going on sale starting October 4. Despite Adele's rejection, Eavis claimed main headliners were "already sorted." No names, however, have officially been announced

Speaking of Rihanna, the pop superstar is a finalist in 13 categories this year, after leading the pack with 18 category appearances in 2011. Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne each snagged a spot in 10 categories, and will both compete against Adele, Rihanna and Katy Perry for the prestigious Top Artist prize. And the Top New Artist category features a diverse collection of fresh talent, with Bad Meets Evil, Big Sean, Foster The People, Scotty McCreery and Wiz Khalifa serving as the 2012 finalists.

The awards will reflect Billboard's chart rankings based on key fan interactions with music, including album sales and downloads, track downloads, radio airplay and touring as well as streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Vevo, Youtube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound. The awards will be based on the reporting period of March 1, 2011 through February 29, 2012. Top artists will be recognized in a variety of genres, including R&B, Rap, Pop, Country, Rock, Latin and Alternative.

Today, Billboard launches a microsite for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards at Billboard.com/BBMA that offers up-to-the-minute updates about the upcoming ceremony. Music fans can also follow news about the show and related events on Twitter at @Billboard or on Facebook.
