Will Lil Wayne Out-Earn Jay-Z On Forbes 2011 Hip Hop List?

Posted in
Lil Wayne grabbed the #4 spot on the Forbes "Hip-Hop Cash Kings list," with $20 million in earnings, despite the fact that he spent most of 2010 behind bars. Being that the Young Money leader earned $2 million more than the previous year has many wondering will he be able to make enough to catch Forbes top rapper, Jay-Z

An article on Forbes.com, consider it plausible but not likely.

"Lil Wayne will be riding high from the proceeds of two albums — I Am Not A Human Being, which was recorded before he went away and made him the first artist since Tupac Shakur to have an album go to No. 1 on the Billboard charts while incarcerated. Sales could easily approach 2-3 million units. The eccentric rapper is also said to be working on Tha Carter IV, an album that could see the light of day sometime in 2011."

The article predicts that Lil Wayne will rake in $30-$35 million next year from a concert tour, albums, as well as guest appearances and merchandise. This will position Lil Wayne within striking distance of Jay-Z's expected $40 million in earnings.
