Famed for her raunchy stage outfits and flesh-flaunting looks, Rihanna cut a more ladylike figure  while browsing the shops in New York on Monday.
The 25-year-old singer looked happy and relaxed as she walked around the city on her own during some well-served time off.

Wearing a brown, smock-style dress, the Barbados-born star's outfit was a world away from her sexy MTV Video Music Awards afterparty look.

Teaming her loose-fitting dress with a chunky silver necklace and black trainers, the R&B singer looked comfy as she strolled through the busy streets.

Carrying her phone and a small handbag, Rihanna blended into the crowd after her late night at the VMA's on Sunday.

After enjoying some retail therapy, she flagged down back a yellow taxi and jumped in to give her feet a rest.

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards wrapped at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn Sunday night (Aug. 25) and Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors" was crowned the Video of the Year. JT was ostensibly the star of the host-less show: Not only did he receive the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, but he also delivered a stunning 16-minute performance that featured a brief onstage reunion with 'N Sync. The 20/20 Experience singer won more awards than any other artist, collecting a total of four Moonmen, including trophies for Best Direction (which went to the David Fincher-helmed "Suit & Tie") and Best Editing (for "Mirrors").

MTV VMAs 2012 Full Winner List: Rihanna, One Direction, Chris Brown and More

Riri claims the top prize, 1D become the biggest winner, while Breezy and M.I.A. are the other multiple winners at the star-studded awards show on Thursday night, September 6.

The complete winners of this year's MTV Video Music Awards have been revealed. Taking home the most coveted gong of Video of the Year was Rihanna, thanks to her steamy music video for "We Found Love". Riri defeated the likes of Drake, Gotye, M.I.A. and Katy Perry in the category.

Though claiming the top prize, Riri couldn't outnumber the amount of awards taken home by boyband One Direction. The fivesome successfully grabbed three awards, including Best Share-Worthy Video and Best Pop Video all for their song "What Makes You Beautiful". They also snatched the Best New Artist award, defeating Carly Rae Jepsen, Fun., The Wanted and Frank Ocean.

"To win one Moonman is ridiculous, to win two is crazy, and to perform is just absolutely insane," one of 1D's members Harry Styles said when receiving the group's second Moonman from Wiz Khalifa and Ke$ha.

Other multiple winners were Chris Brown and M.I.A. with two Moonmen apiece. Breezy collected the Best Male Video and Best Choreography awards thanks to his single "Turn Up the Music", while the English raptress bagged Best Direction and Best Cinematography gongs for her song "Bad Girls".

Rihanna and Chris Brown caused a buzz on the night of 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Not only did the former couple win coveted prizes for Video of the Year and Best Male Video respectively but they were also caught on camera kissing and hugging each other.

Riri and Breezy's friendly encounter happened when she returned to her seat after accepting her award. The Bajan songstress stopped in front of her ex-boyfriend and gave him a quick kiss and hug before greeting Akon's brother, Bu Thiam, who's also a VIP of A&R at her label Def Jam.

Riri sat on the front row next to her beastie Katy Perry, seven seats apart from Breezy, during the event taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on September 6. Her former fling Drake, along with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Taylor Swift, were also seated on the same row.
