Baroness Thatcher should have got a minute's silence at United... and she deserves one at Wembley this weekend, insists angered Whelan
Premier League chairmen Dave Whelan and John Madejski have both called for a one-minute silence in honour of Baroness Margaret Thatcher.
The former Prime Minister died yesterday, aged 87 after suffering a stroke.
Whelan, whose Wigan side face Millwall in their FA Cup semi-final clash on Saturday, believes football fans should pay their respects to the deceased prime Minister.
Speaking to the BBC, Whelan said: 'We owe Mrs Thatcher a minute's silence.
'We have to say thank you very much for the service she gave'.

Eyes on the prize: Dave Whelan would like a minute's silence for the former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher
'We have to say thank you very much for the service she gave'.
While Reading's long-serving chairman, Madejski told BBC Radio 5 live: 'We have got to appreciate
that Margaret Thatcher was a world leader who did so much for this country. So
much that she deserves a minute's silence.
'The funeral's going to take place at St Paul's attended by
the Queen and Prince Philip so I think it would be a fitting tribute from the
world of football to Margaret Thatcher, one of our greatest leaders.'
But the Premier League have told Sportsmail there are no plans for a one-minute silence ahead of this weekend fixtures.
